Ridgewood, New Jersey is located in Bergen County. The population of the village is approximately 25,000. Ridgewood is an important bedroom community and affluent suburb of New York City. It is about twenty miles southeast of Manhattan. The first home was built in 1700, and the village was established in November of 1894 and had the same boundaries as the Township of Ridgewood. The village added parts of Orvil Township in 1902, some area from Franklin Township in 1925, part of Washington Township in 1971, and finally area from Ho-Ho-Kus in 1974.

Ridgewood was ranked #61 as the best place to live in New Jersey by the New Jersey Monthly magazine. It has two community newspapers that are published weekly, The Ridgewood Suburban News and The Ridgewood News. North Jersey Media Group publishes both newspapers. There is one daily newspaper, The Record, which is also produced by North Jersey Media Group. Visitors can enjoy seeing historical sites, shopping in the retail stores and specialty shops, and dining in more than thirty restaurants that are sure to suit all taste buds. Municipal parking areas can be found all over town and Ridgewood is a walking town so it is easy to reach all areas on foot.
